Spark: Artistic Mentorship Program Fund

Spark: Artistic Mentorship Program Fund is an initiative to offer training and development in the performing arts to black, Indigenous, and students of color in the Great Lakes Bay region. Focusing on advanced training in singing, acting, and dancing, SPARK offers financial support and rigorous mentorship to assist underrepresented students in navigating the nuance and challenges of the entertainment industry. Recipients of this award will gain access to a plethora of knowledge from industry professionals offering perspective and guidance towards a fulfilling life in the performing arts.

Spearheaded by Broadway theatre professionals and Bay City Central High School alums—Korie Lee Blossey, Katie Travis and Ryan VanDenBoom, along with Dr. Matt Travis, Director of Choral and Orchestral programs at the Midland Center for the Arts, Thad VanTifflin of the Bay City Public Schools and Katie Miller of the Midland Center for the Arts —SPARK leaders believe in the power of diversity in the arts and seek to ignite the passion in students to help create tomorrow’s leaders.
