Since 2005, the Bay Area Community Foundation has awarded $4,355,392 in grants to local nonprofit organizations and in scholarships for students attending college.
The first chart below displays the total dollar amount each fund category has granted since 2005.During 2009, the Bay Area Community Foundation will work with local agencies to assist in growing their Agency Endowment Funds.Many area agencies face challenges to fund and keep their programs sustainable.With the help of a wellestablished agency endowment fund, organizations in our community will have the assurance they need for adequate funding.
The second chartillustrates the type of grants distributed since 2005.The Bay Area Community Foundation had a threefold increase for scholarships distributed in the last four years.The Foundation saw a need in our community to help students pursue higher education.With the establishment of the Bay Commitment Scholarship in addition to eighteen different scholarship funds, education quickly became an immense focus for the Foundation.In 2009, the Bay Area Community Foundation will distribute over a half a million dollars in scholarships to students in Bay and Arenac Counties.
