Hosts Faces of Philanthropy November 3, 2009

Bay City, MI - Bay Area Community Foundation will host Faces of Philanthropy on November 3, 2009 at the DoubleTree Hotel.  The evening event is held to honor those in our area who have worked to improve our community through selfless contributions of time, energy, and financial resources.  We will celebrate the outstanding work performed by individuals as well as many non-profit organizations in Bay and Arenac Counties.  We are delighted Dr. Stephanie Burns, CEO Dow Corning Corporation, will be our featured speaker.

Faces of Philanthropy is presented every other year by the Bay Area Community Foundation.  This event brings together families, businesses, educators, government leaders, and volunteers in our region to recognize the enormous contributions made by area philanthropists.

The Peggy Rowley Community Enrichment Award will be given to Thomas Tabor III and Guy T. Moulthrop. The Peggy Rowley Community Enrichment Award was established in 1996.  The award is given to community residents who have distinguished him or herself as a philanthropic leader whether through volunteerism, financial resources or both.  The Award is not presented every year but rather only when someone truly deserving is identified.  Past recipients include; Peg Rowley, Bob Sarow, Ron McGillivray, Ralph Powell, Mr. Leopold J. Kantzler, and Jerome Yantz.  The last award was presented to Ruth Jaffe in 2007.

For a reservation contact Bay Area Community Foundation 989-893-4438.  The cost of the event is $50 per person.    The Bay Area Community Foundation is a community based, philanthropic organization working to improve the quality of life in the Bay County area.  The Foundation’s mission is to fulfill a wide array of donors’ charitable wishes throughout Bay and Arenac Counties by building permanent endowment funds and serving as a leader for community improvement through effective grantmaking and collaboration.  The Bay Area Community Foundation office is located in the recently restored Pere Marquette Depot, 1000 Adams Street, Suite 200, Bay City, MI 48708.
