Bay Area Community Foundation’s Receives
$50,000 to Establish Arenac County Scholarship Endowment Fund
Bay City, MI – Bay Area Community Foundation received a gift of $50,000 from AuGres Sims and Standish Sterling Schools to benefit the Arenac County Scholarship Endowment Fund. The two school districts initially received a $50,000 grant from The Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe to establish a college scholarship fund to benefit high school seniors from Arenac County. The school districts, worked with the Arenac County Fund Committee to endow the donation with the Bay Area Community Foundation. The Foundation will administer the scholarship.
The Arenac County Scholarship Endowment Fund will grant the first scholarship in the spring of 2010. The application will be available starting December 1, 2009 on the Bay Area Community Foundation’s website, www.bayfoundation.org. Bay Area Community Foundation currently holds over eighty-five scholarships endowment funds. In 2009, the Bay Area Community Foundation distributed 280 scholarships, representing $361,530 to Arenac and Bay County students.
