Bay Area Community Foundation Announces 2011 Board of Trustees
Bay City, MI – Bay Area Community Foundation held its Annual Celebration and Report to the Community on Thursday, May 12, 2010. The Foundation announced the election of a new Trustee and provided information on the spring 2011 scholarship awards of $440,000 and 2010 grant awards of $810,000.
“We are fortunate to have a flourishing organization that continues to support the needs of our community,” stated Eileen A. Curtis, the Foundation’s President & CEO. “The Foundation has an asset base of over $32 million. Our endowed funds have allowed the Foundation to grant over $16 million for scholarships and community improvements since 1982.” Ms. Curtis continued, “None of this would have been possible without donors who left a financial legacy to our community. In these turbulent economic times, we are focused on serving as good stewards of these donor’s funds and strive to create the greatest positive impact through grant allocations.”
The following individuals were elected as the 201/2012 officers of the Foundation: Debra Lutz, Chair, Delta College; William Bowen, Community Volunteer; William Mulders, Treasurer; Cathy Washabaugh, Secretary, Michigan Public Service Commission.
The new Trustee is Michael Hanisko, Weinlander Fitzhugh CPAs. He is a returning member to the Foundation’s Board of Trustees and will be serving a three year term.
Bay County community members elected to a second, three year term were: Jeff Yantz, Edward Jones; Richard Milster, Lamber, Leser, Isackson, Cook & Giunta P.C.
Bay County community members elected to a third, three year term were: Beth Eilliott, F.P. Horak; E; Karolyn Goslin, Community Volunteer; Debra Lutz, Delta College; Jeff Martin, The Dow Chemical Company; Anne Trahan, Anne Trahan Photography.
Continuing to serve on the Foundation’s Board are: Kay Burks, Independent Bank; Michael Dewey, Robert Hetzler, Community Volunteer;Bay Arenac ISD; Michael Kelly, The Conservation Fund; Amy Rodriguez, Weinlander Fitzhugh; Michael Stoner, Bay Metro Transit; Carolyn Wierda, Saginaw Valley State University.
