Awards Grants to 33 Area Non-Profit Organizations
The Bay Area Community Foundation awarded $104,147 in grants to local non-profit organizations in Bay and Arenac Counties. The grants will assist programs in arts and culture, community development, education, environment, health, and human services. More than $4 million has been invested in our community through grants to non-profit organizations in the past five years.
Good Samaritan Rescue Mission received funding to create a Children's Activity Room. The grant will be used to purchase rubber tiles, children's furniture, bookshelves, and paint. This room will provide a safe space for the nearly 200 children that are served by the organization each year to play and study.
The Elizabeth Husband Fund granted nearly $9,000 to organizations in Bay County to support holiday activities. The projects included food and household item gift baskets, toys for children and coats for kids.
Do-All, Inc. received a grant from the Health Initiative Fund to purchase new, clean twin beds for children age 4 through 17. The beds will be delivered to children living in families with financial hardship and who do not have a bed on which to sleep, thereby improving overall health and academic success.
Saginaw Valley State University received a grant from the Youth Advisory Committee. The grant will fund a project designed to increase civic engagement, community pride, and volunteerism in the Great Lakes Bay region. The students plan to implement this project at SVSU, Delta College, Northwood University, Davenport University, and all Bay, Midland, and Saginaw area high schools.
